Description

Sarah's Cottage Castletown is a 4 Star Gold Award, beautiful, recently renovated traditional terraced cottage in the heart of Castletown, the Isle of Man's ancient capital with its narrow streets and fishing cottages. With a deceptively spacious living area and huge kitchen/diner, the cottage has been finished to a very high standard with an en-suite master bedroom comprising king bed, a single bedroom which contains a double bed, and a third bedroom with single bed. This wonderful cottage comfortably sleeps 5.

To the rear of the house is a lovely quiet private garden which is a lovely sun trap in the summer.

Located a 3 minute drive from the Isle of Man airport, the cottage is also close to the main bus route and the railway station is only 5 minutes’ walk away, making this the perfect base for those who are travelling without a car, but also appealing to the business traveller. In recent years friendly Castletown has been experiencing a transformation, with the historic town now known on the island for a fantastic range of places to eat and drink and tons to do and see, all just a few minutes’ walk away.

The history of the town and island are illustrated in four Manx National Heritage sites in the centre of Castletown: Castle Rushen (at the centre of the town) was originally built in 1265 for a Norse king, then fortified and added to by successive rulers between the 13th and 16th centuries; The Nautical Museum (in the secret passage-filled home of inventor, politician, banker and probable smuggler George Quayle); the Old Grammar School (originally a church from AD 1200) and the Old House of Keys.

Derbyhaven beach, Scarlett Nature Reserve, Poulsom Park, Castletown harbour, Tennis courts, Bowling Green and the Southern Swimming Pool are mere minutes away.

The Southern 100 motorcycle races take place in July each year and start of the course start/finish is just a minutes’ walk from Sarah's Cottage.

Port Erin, Port St Mary, Ballasalla and Douglas are all easily accessible by bus, car or train from Sarah's Cottage. There is a bus stop in Castletown Square, a 3 minute walk from the cottage. Castletown railway station is a 5 minute walk.

"The Cottage was stunning and Sarah left very thoughtful, helpful items to get us started with our stay. It was warm, easy to find, well located and decorated so as to be very relaxing to spend time in. We'll be going again!"

"We spent a lovely week at Sarah's Cottage December 2021. The cottage was clean, welcoming, warm and equipped with pretty much everything you need for a home from home. Some of the party had to work online for a couple days and the WiFi worked very well for meetings without dropping. Very handy for local shops and braving the winter weather for walks along the coast. Would happily stay again."

Mrs Mcallister - December 2021

"Light, bright airy and modern with a very large kitchen-diner, two bathrooms and a large secluded garden, right in the heart of the Island's nicest towns. Sarah's Cottage is absolutely gorgeous, the perfect Holiday Let in the perfect location!"

"Thank you for our stay in your beautiful modernised cottage in the centre of gorgeous Castletown. The cottage showed off some wonderful individual artwork, had every facility you could possibly need whilst away on holiday whilst your welcome pack of local produce was a lovely practical thought. Having travelled extensively across the Island, Castletown is probably one of the nicest and most picturesque spots, with a wide range of eating, from seaside fish and chips through to a new high end Japanese restaurant (we got a cancellation - it was great eating). Thoroughly recommended cottage!"

Mr N West - August 2021

“Sarah’s Cottage is a fantastic place to stay and is right in the heart of the beautiful Castletown within close walking distance of the central square and all that has to offer. We stayed for almost 2 weeks and found the cottage to have everything we could possibly require including lovely furniture and decoration, fully equipped kitchen and very comfortable beds! The space itself lends to relaxation as a modern kitchen and brilliant dining area joins seamlessly with the lounge and sitting areas making it very easy for family living. Everything is beautifully done and we felt very at home with a mixture of traditional features and a modern living space combining to make a very cosy and enjoyable place to be. We would very happily recommend a stay at Sarah’s cottage and would definitely stay again in the future.”

Mr and Mrs Chase - May 2021

“Sarah’s Cottage is absolutely gorgeous! A great mixture of traditional and modern. The Cottage has a fantastic ground floor and Master suite with a beautiful large private garden to the rear. It is much larger than it looks from the deceptively quaint exterior and is a three-minute walk from the heart of Castletown, which is also a truly lovely town. The owner of Sarah’s Cottage, Sarah was totally brilliant and exceptionally helpful at all times. We loved Sarah's Cottage and would not hesitate to recommend it! Thank you so much for a really wonderful stay”

“The gift that keeps on giving, small on the outside, Wow! on the inside. What an utterly brilliant and lovely cottage in the heart of the Island’s nicest town”.

What a gorgeous cottage, hugely spacious and modern inside, very deceptive from the quaint exterior. Light, large, modern and characterful with a substantial ,very sunny garden. Way more features and amenities than a usual holiday let and a mere 2 minutes’ walk from Castletown Square! We absolutely loved it and can’t wait to book again!”

"If you don't know Castletown then you're in for a treat! It's a lovely spot. Sarah's cottage is a very short and easy walk into the centre of Castletown which has a surprising number of restaurants and attractions for such a small place. The house is very light inside and there are double doors leading out onto a beautiful, secluded garden. Everything is new inside and in A1 condition, it is also scrupulously clean. We would absolutely book again given the opportunity."
